Loyal Primark fan makes 12-hour round trip to fill suitcase after four years abroad

A Primark fan showed her “dedication” to the brand by taking a suitcase with her to fill up on a 12-hour round trip to the store, after living abroad for four years.

Suzanne Scott was visiting her family at home in Falkirk, Scotland, when she decided to travel by train 300 miles south to Birmingham to visit the world’s biggest Primark.

With her mum and aunt in tow, the 28-year-old set off to get her fix of the high street retailer as there are no stores over in Vancouver, Canada, where she’s been living.

Suzanne, who is a retail store manager, set about filling up her mum’s suitcase with £290 worth of merchandise, including toiletries, underwear and clothing.

Footage showed Suzanne piling up her buys into a suitcase so she could haul home her loot, while a cashier scanned through the rest of her purchases in the background.

Since sharing the clip to TikTok, Suzanne received a mixed response with many praising her handy hack, whilst others slammed her for “wasting money”.

Suzanne said: “This was my first trip back to the UK in four years.

“It was so lovely being back in Scotland after all this time – it was like I’d never left.

“I decided to do a day trip down to Birmingham to do a Primark shop. I joked ‘I better take a suitcase!’ and my mum ended up giving me hers.

“I knew it was going to be a big shop. I hadn’t been in four years, because they don’t have Primark in Canada.

“I wanted to do the day trip down to Birmingham from Scotland. It was a six-hour trip there and a six-hour trip back.

“We got the first train down in the morning and the first train back at night. We didn’t get home until 1am.

“It was a lot of dedication for a Primark shop.”

She added: “We went down to Birmingham because that’s where the biggest Primark is. I figured it was a case of go big or go home.

“Another reason why I brought the suitcase was because I knew carrying home a ton of bags wouldn’t be a good idea.

“I came to about £290 by the end of the shop, which isn’t too bad. I got quite a bit for that. I got quite a bit of toiletries, clothing and underwear.”

Suzanne admitted to missing Primark whilst she’s across the pond, and found she doesn’t splurge as much whilst shopping in Canada.

Suzanne said: “I missed Primark a lot whilst I’m over in Canada. I’ve also lived in New Zealand and Australia, and between the three places there’s no Primark.

“It’s the big thing when I come home to go to Primark. Other countries don’t have anything like it – they don’t really do fast fashion, especially at such a cheap price.

Suzanne’s video, which racked up nearly five million views, was met with a mixed response since it was uploaded to TikTok.

Suzanne said: “I picked up over four million views on the video, it’s crazy. Going off the comments, I think it picked up that many because they were saying bringing a suitcase was genius.

“People were saying they were going to bring a suitcase next time they went to Primark.

“But there were also negative comments on there from people saying ‘Oh, she’s not sustainable’ or ‘She’s wasting money’.

“I would say, I don’t do big shops that often. When I’m in Canada, I’ll be buying the bare minimum.

“It’s not like I’m going out spending loads of money all the time. I’m sure plenty of people spend more a week on Shein.”

Primark has been contacted for comment.
